Why I Believe IHOP is a Cult

A cult? Strong word you might say...and you are correct. It is not a word I use lightly or carelessly to label anything. But much prayer, time and years of research and personal experience have brought me to the conclusion that I can say confidently that the root system--or foundation--that IHOP is built on follows the basic premises and signs of a cult religious group. When I first left IHOP, I went through a severe culture shock that is hard to put into words. When I began studying the signs of cult fallout and the things that cult members go through after leaving a cult, my eyes began to open to what I had been a part of and recently come out of.

Below I have listed some common signs of cult operation. Below them, I cite in RED text short examples of my personal experiences at IHOP which illustrates these particular signs in action. After 5 years of being out of IHOP, I still hold to my position that it is a dangerous place for people’s hearts and have seen much destruction of families, relationships and marriages of those who have been involved with this movement.

I appreciate your taking the time to read and prayerfully consider the research and personal testimony I’ve included below.

A destructive cult tends to be totalitarian in its control of its members' behavior. Cults are likely to dictate in great detail not only what members believe, but also what members wear and eat, when and where members work, sleep, and bathe, and how members think, speak, and conduct familial, marital, or sexual relationships.

As an intern at IHOP, our day to day lives were closely monitored and dictated. I was not allowed to go anywhere or leave IHOP premises without express verbal permission from a community leader except on our one day off. Our schedules started early in the morning with hours in the prayer room, then classes, then back to the prayer room. Our nights often ran late with required attendance at EGS (Encounter God Services) or any other special event Mike spoke at that we were required to attend. Sometimes we had to attend worship sets that ended at 10 pm or midnight. Sleep was minimal and was often un-restful when I did get it. Sleep deprivation is a commonly used tactic in many cult groups to weaken the mind and make a person more susceptible to the embracing of the doctrines taught by that cult. There are many biological and psychological effects of sleep deprivation on the mind.

A destructive cult tends to have an ethical double standard. Members are urged to be obedient to the cult, to carefully follow cult rules. They are also encouraged to be revealing and open in the group, confessing all to the leaders. On the other hand, outside the group they are encouraged to act unethically, manipulating outsiders or nonmembers, and either deceiving them or simply revealing very little about themselves or the group. In contrast to destructive cults, honorable groups teach members to abide by one set of ethics and act ethically and truthfully to all people in all situations.

Anyone who rebelled against IHOP’s rules went through a strict disciplinarian process. At its most minimal level of discipline, for an intern, this meant the loss of having a day off and having to do manual labor. Everyone was kept on a short leash. We also had weekly groups as interns that we were required to participate in where everyone was "interrogated" and pressured to open up and share their personal struggles, etc and answer personal questions about their lives, struggles, thoughts, fears, and walks with G-d. It often felt like going to some kind of confession (as in Catholocism) and some interns out and out refused to be so vulnerable and disclosing in front of people they did not know. We were all given journals and told that we had mandatory writing assignments to complete. We were to record details of our IHOP prayer room times, things God spoke to us, dreams, visions, or whatever else that happened in us spiritually and then had to turn in our journals weekly to have an internship leader review/read them. In the last month or so I was at IHOP I paid particularly close attention to the fact that internship leaders ironically prayed things over me in prayer times or at the altar in the prayer room that related directly to things I had put in my journals. So what often might have seemed prophetic was the result of the information about me they already had access to.

A destructive cult has only two basic purposes: recruiting new members and fund-raising. Altruistic movements, established religions, and other honorable groups also recruit and raise funds. However, these actions are incidental to an honorable group's main purpose of improving the lives of its members and of humankind in general. Destructive cults may claim to make social contributions, but in actuality such claims are superficial and only serve as gestures or fronts for recruiting and fund-raising. A cult's real goal is to increase the prestige and often the wealth of the leader.

They were always an underlying pressure to bring people into IHOP. We were encouraged to invite others and get them to join what we were doing. IHOP campaigns big time to recruit new interns. At every conference, advertising and marketing videos are used to this day to promote the internships. They are played on large TV screens like presidential campaigns and are just part of the propaganda used to "sell" young people on this new version of what walking with God is supposed to look like.

Each intern paid $4,500 to attend a 6 month internship. This covered some books/teaching material we were given as well as food, lodging etc. Check this out though: Every intern lived in the Hernhutt apartments (located next door) which IHOP owned anyway so the only expense was utilities and general upkeep. There was no rent. Plus when there was a mandatory fasting day, weekend, week, etc. no meals were served. So those who didn’t choose to fast had to go out and buy food and no interns were not allowed to have jobs so this got to be a big expense since there wasn't extra money to live on.

I lived in a 2-bedroom apartment. It housed 6 girls from the ages of 20-23. 4 of us shared one room and 2 shared another. The prayer room costs nothing to attend and is free and open to the public. So hmmm….$4,500 for meals, my electric bill and some IHOP books. I currently live in my own apartment, pay all of my own bills including rent, food, gasoline, renter’s insurance, credit card bills, student loans, electric, cell phone, etc etc and ALL of that costs me approximately $1,500 a month. So basic math says that someone was getting a big paycheck because my expenses would have never cost that in an internship program where we were given so little.

A destructive cult appears to be innovative and exclusive. The leader claims to be breaking with tradition, offering something novel, and instituting the ONLY viable system for change that will solve life's problems or the world's ills. But these claims are empty and only used to recruit members who are then surreptitiously subjected to mind control to inhibit their ability to examine the actual validity of the claims of the leader and the cult.

In the time I was there Mike often used “them and us” types of statements when referring to “the church” or those outside of IHOP. We were given a sense of being on the “cutting edge” because we were ahead of the church and were doing something new & innovative that was going to sweep the world. It all sounded good so everyone wanted to be in on it as a “forerunner” and liked the label of being on the front lines. So no one dared questioned it.

A destructive cult is authoritarian in its power structure. The leader is regarded as the supreme authority. He or she may delegate certain power to a few subordinates for the purpose of seeing that members adhere to the leader's wishes. There is no appeal outside his or her system to a greater system of justice. For example, if a schoolteacher feels unjustly treated by a principal, an appeal can be made to the superintendent. In a destructive cult, the leader claims to have the only and final ruling on all matters.

Our family became friends with a Jewish couple who were in KC for a conference. They were part of the Ethiopian Jewish congregation in Israel and were missionaries in the US. They had some grave concerns and red flags (regarding IHOP’s theology, the model that is used with everything IHOP related, etc) that they attempted to meet with Mike and discuss. After being brushed off by Mike multiple times in his refusal to meet with him…even though they were Jewish leaders from Israel and Mike knew of them, he finally told these friends of ours that “This is how we do things here. This is just how IHOP is. It’s not for everyone.” If there was something you didn’t like or didn’t agree with, you were basically told “IHOP wasn’t for everyone so if you couldn’t handle it, maybe you shouldn’t be here.” There was no actual accountability for anything deemed wrong/un-Biblical. We were told that IHOP has its own “culture” and you must assimilate into that culture and language to really understand it. If you had a problem with something, you were told that you just had not been around long enough to understand how they did things OR that you just weren’t a good fit. These were the answers I was given when I met with internship leaders right before leaving. There was never actual admittance of wrong doing or hurting anyone who was caught in the crossfire.

A destructive cult's leader is a self-appointed messianic person claiming to have a special mission in life. For example, leaders of flying saucer cults claim that beings from outer space have commissioned them to lead people away from Earth, so that only the leaders can save them from impending doom.

Every intern was required to listen to the 12 hours of IHOP’s recorded history on CD footage. Much of this content was heavily edited before its publication. These tapes told of “prophetic words” and signs that were given to some of Mike’s mentors (Bob Jones, Paul Cain, etc)—who were all naming him as the leader of the next “big thing” God was doing. Over and over and over again I’ve heard it said (both directly by Mike as well as from others) that he (Mike) would be the leader of a movement that “changed the nature and expression of Christianity in the earth”. Every time, all recognition points to Mike. His “mission” to transform the church and capture the hearts of America’s youth has been his declared goal since the early 1980’s. One of the major dangers is that these grandious sounding claims and "prophetic" words are laden with flattery, narcissism, elitism and are a perfect guise under which anything Mike introduces through IHOP can fall under the heading of being a "new thing" God is doing.

This elitist teaching puts Mike on a pedestal and he has a Messianic-like devoted following of people who would do anything if he told them to without a moment of questioning or hesitation. From my observations and experiences on staff, IHOP members do not think for themselves or question Mike's interpretation of scripture or the slant in the way he teaches it. At any conference, one will easily observe that if Mike recommends a book or promotes a teaching, a t-shirt or a speaker, at the next break, ALL of that item will be sold out in their bookstore. When I was on staff, I heard people continually sing Mike’s praises around the clock and quote more of what Mike says or thinks or teaches than actual scripture.

Mike has an alluring charisma and many seem to be instantly drawn to his convincing appearance of direction and purpose. He teaches with passion and emotion rather than truth and it's that charisma that draws and hooks people causing many to blindly follow (and defend) his message.

I believe that the IHOP lifestyle by and large sets people up for disillusionment through the false hope that its deception provides. It is a pseudo, manufactured reality where people are told “you can live in Nirvana and enjoy the 'high' of being in God’s presence 24/7 and that can be ALL that you live for” so people sell all that they have, buy into a dream and move across the country to be a part of a ministry that makes captivating claims…and then their world often crumble to ashes when things aren’t as they seem once they arrive.

Mike's primary target and focus is on the young people. His appeals from the pulpit and his well-polished speeches aim at capturing the hearts of America’s youth. Children and youth are not told or encouraged to respect or honor the parents G-d gave them. Instead, wedges are driven between families and a seed of pride, rebellion and elitism gets planted into the hearts of youth when they are told things like the following…

This is a very close paraphrase of what I’ve heard many, many times at One Thing, IHOP conferences and in teachings by leaders:

“YOU are called to be on the cutting edge. Come here and join a community of other people who are like you, called to what you’re called to. We understand you. You’ve been mis-understood in the church. You’ve had your wings clipped, your gifts misunderstood. Here you can fulfill your forerunner calling that your family just hasn’t understood about you. You might feel like you don’t fit back home, you’re on the outside, no one understands the fire in you. Well we get it. You are the leaders that G-d is raising up in these end times and you will be kings and queens on the earth—reigning with Him. You were made for this place. IHOP is an incubator for people like you.”

Narcissistic speeches like this instill a sense of pride, arrogance and elitism in the hearts of youth who hear it and it feeds their need for validation and identity. They run to IHOP, leave their families, join internships…hoping that what they’ve heard is true. They go to IHOP looking for identity…instead of finding it in Jesus.

Once outside of the IHOP environment, they are terrified and overwhelmed by the “real” world and don’t know how to function in it when they’ve been in an intensive internship environment. There is a degree of re-acclimating to normal life that feels like an IHOP detox afterward. It’s a severe emotional drop because the hyped up services and conferences that were your manna are now gone and when there is no prayer room, your life in God feels empty and lifeless. Many simply don’t know how to engage with God in a real day-to-day basis once they’ve left. I experienced this and heard the exact same thing from a handful of my friends after they left IHOP and the internship. At that point when disillusionment sets in, I know many interns that walked away from God completely upon leaving the internship and went back into lifestyles worse than the ones they left when they came to IHOP originally.

A destructive cult's leader centers the veneration of members upon himself or herself. Priests, rabbis, ministers, democratic leaders, and other leaders of genuinely altruistic movements focus the veneration of adherents on God or a set of ethical principles. Cult leaders, in contrast, keep the focus of love, devotion, and allegiance on themselves.

I believe my statements above illustrate this so I won't be redundant.

A destructive cult's leader tends to be determined, domineering, and charismatic. Such a leader effectively persuades followers to abandon or alter their families, friends, and careers to follow the cult. The leader then takes control over followers' possessions, money, time, and lives.

Youth are pumped up at conferences and then go home to tell their parents they are moving to Kansas City to join IHOP, be part of an internship, etc. At the time, sadly, they don't realize how much more they are giving up and leaving behind than just their families. I was hurled into a system that took control of my time, when I ate, slept, had time alone, etc. Picking up the pieces of my heart and rebuilding a Biblical view of God after getting outside of IHOP was quite a long process. I hope that by sharing all of this, I am able to spare others the heartache of what I went through.

Please don't just take my word for it. Start doing your own research. Ask the Father to lead you as you pursue what is TRUTH. Don't just stop at the facts--look deeper. Do Google searches on cults and ask the Lord to unveil deceptions.

Rys historyczny - bój o wystarczalność Biblii przez wieki

Walka o wystarczalność Biblii nie jest czymś nowym, ale ostro rozgorzała na początku XX wieku. Szczególnie w latach 80-tych. Nigdy do tej pory nie był to większościowy pogląd chrześcijan wyraźnie i deklaratywnie opierających się na Biblii, jakich współcześnie nazywa się ewangelicznymi chrześcijanami. Oto krótki przegląd historyczny.

Klemens Rzymski
Pod koniec I wieku zmarł ostatni Apostoł, Jan. Uczniowie apostołów widzieli siebie jako przywódców ustanowionych przez Apostołów, ale nie uważali, że są sukcesorami władzy apostolskiej. Na przykład Klemens Rzymski (prawdopodobnie ten z Listu do Filipian 4,3) w roku 97 n.e. napisał list do kościoła w Koryncie. Pismo to daje solidną podstawę, że wczesny kościół nie uważał, aby apostołowie mieli swoich sukcesorów. Nie było nowych apostołów na miejsce oryginalnych, dających kierunek kościołowi. Przywódcami kościoła byli starsi potwierdzeni przez resztę kościoła jako mężowie Boży, a nie jako nowi Apostołowie z kontynuacją władzy apostolskiej. Władzę miało nauczanie Pana Jezusa i Jego Apostołów. Tak więc to, co dziś nazywamy Nowym Testamentem było wtedy nie tylko konieczne, ale też i wystarczające jako objawienie od Boga.

Atanazy
Przez pierwsze dwa wieki po śmierci Apostołów (w. II i III) większość chrześcijan wierzyła w wystarczalność objawienia Bożego. Były jednak grupy (szczególnie montaniści), w których uważano, że Bóg ciągle daje swoje objawienie poprzez Ojców apostolskich (jak my ich dzisiaj nazywamy)  żyjących w tych wiekach. Jednak w roku 367 Atanazy Wielki ogłosił, że 27 ksiąg Nowego Testamentu to jedyne natchnione przez Boga objawienie. Zgodził się z tym Sobór w Kartaginie w roku 397. Tak więc Atanazy i sobór w Kartaginie ogłosili, że i Nowy i Stary Testament stanowią wystarczające objawienie od Boga.

Rzymski katolicyzm oraz prawosławie
W V wieku Leon I, biskup Rzymu wyprowadził władzę papieską od Piotra.
Z kolei kościół prawosławny wystąpił z twierdzeniem, że pierwszych siedem soborów oraz patriarchowie narodowi stanowią Bożą władzę na ziemi.
Zarówno rzymscy katolicy jak i prawosławni utrzymują przez wieki, że Biblia jest konieczna, ale niewystarczająca. Oprócz Biblii potrzebny jest kościół, aby zadeklarować pełną radę od Boga oraz aby przekazywać łaskę Bożą. Oto jak wyjaśnia to kościół rzymski (fragment konstytucji Pastor aeternus):

Za zgodą świętego Soboru nauczamy i definiujemy
jako dogmat objawiony przez Boga,
że Biskup Rzymski, gdy mówi ex cathedra
- tzn. gdy sprawując urząd pasterza i nauczyciela wszystkich wiernych,
swą najwyższą apostolską władzą określa zobowiązującą cały Kościół
naukę w sprawach wiary i moralności
- dzięki opiece Bożej przyrzeczonej mu w osobie św. Piotra Apostoła
posiada tę nieomylność,
jaką Boski Zbawiciel chciał wyposażyć swój Kościół
w definiowaniu nauki wiary i moralności.
Toteż takie definicje są niezmienne same z siebie, a nie na mocy zgody Kościoła.

"Definimus: Romanum Pontificem cum ex cathedra loquitur, id est, cum omnium Christianorum Pastoris et Doctoris munere fungens, pro suprema sua Apostolica auctoritate, doctrinam de fide vel moribus ab universa Ecclesia tenendam definit, per assistentiam divinam ipsi in beato Petro promissam ea infallibilitate pollere, qua divinus Redemptor Ecclesiam suam in definienda doctrina de fide vel moribus instructam esse voluit, ideoque ejusmodi Romani Pontificis definitiones ex sese, non autem ex consensu Ecclesiae irreformabiles esse. Si quis autem huic nostrae definitioni contradicere, quod Deus avertat, praesumpserit: anathema sit".
Jak więc widać, kościół Rzymskokatolicki  jednoznacznie neguje wystarczalność Biblii.

Reformacja
Reformacja polegała na akcentowaniu wystarczalności Pisma (sola scriptoria). Przed Lutrem, Wycliffem i Husem – ludźmi, którzy wierzyli w wystarczalność Biblii – istniały już ruchy chrześcijan (np. Bracia Wspólnego Życia), które tak właśnie uważały: Biblia jest wystarczająca.
Luter nauczał: tylko łaska, tylko wiara, powszechne kapłaństwo, a to wszystko wynika z sola scriptoria – Biblia wystarcza. Dyskusje wśród protestantów toczyły się na temat interpretacji Biblii, ale nie jej wystarczalności. Przykładowo, luteranie, prezbiterianie i reformowani alegoryzowali obietnice ze Starego Testamentu dane Izraelowi na przyszłość i odnosili je do kościoła. Z kolei anabaptyści, purytanie i baptyści traktowali te obietnice dosłownie, jako odnoszące się do Izraela w przyszłości. Obydwa obozy jednak wierzyły w wystarczalność Biblii. Dyskutowały o interpretacji, nie o wystarczalności.
Pierwsi reformatorzy z XVI wieku (Luter, Zwingli, Kalwin, anabaptyści) wierzyli w wystarczalność Biblii.


Ostatnie 110 lat
Od baptystów do zielonoświątkowców
Baptyści, purytanie i separatyści z XVI wieku, przywódcy Wielkiego Przebudzenia w XVIII w., ewangeliści wielkich zgromadzeń XIX w., wszyscy wierzyli w wystarczalność Biblii. Coś dziwnego wydarzyło się na początku wieku XX. Grupy wywodzące się z głównej linii protestantyzmu zaczęły koncentrować się na tym, że Bóg daje im nowe objawienie, przez co zmarginalizowali Biblię jako niewystarczającą. W Topeka w stanie Kansas w roku 1901 powstał ruch „języków”. Większość chrześcijan znanych jako zielonoświątkowcy przyłączyła się do kościołów typu Zbory Boże (Assembly of God). Uważają oni, że opisane w NT dary funkcjonują do dziś.
Poza okazyjnymi proroctwami lub językami trzymali się oni zasadniczo wystarczalności Biblii. Nie zgadzali się np. z baptystami w kwestii interpretowania fragmentów o językach i proroctwie, ale nie uważali innego autorytetu poza Biblią. W kręgach tych nastąpił dryf w kierunku niewystarczalności, dlatego że uważali, iż języki i proroctwa są objawieniem od Boga. Zasadniczo jednak nurt Zborów Bożych (Assembly of God) wierzył w wystarczalność Biblii.

Ruch “późnego deszczu” (The “Later Rain” Movement)
Ruch zielonoświątkowy obfitował w dziwne nauczanie. Na początku XX wieku niektórzy zaczęli rozumieć, że doświadczanie języków było początkiem końca wieku. Nawiązywał do tego jeden z wczesnych ruchów (początkowo przez człowieka o nazwisku  David Wesley Myland) „Późny deszcz”. Całe pojęcie odnosi się do przebudzenia zielonoświątkowego z początku XX wieku. Z alegorycznie interpretowanego wersetu z księgi Joela 2,23 i porównania Zielonych Świąt z Dz 2 do wczesnego deszczu (po zbiorach wiosennych w Izraelu) zrodziła się koncepcja „późnego deszczu” (żniwa jesienne). To było ogłoszeniem (niewerbalnym) niewystarczalności Biblii, ponieważ nie ma w niej czegoś takiego, jak „późny deszcz”.  Nie była to chybiona interpretacja, ale nowa, pozabiblijna koncepcja. Kościół Assemblies of God odrzucił ją i przyłączył się do teologii premillenijnej, jednak wiele innych przyjęło ją jako przejaw nowego działania Ducha Świętego. Ich punktem wyjścia było to, że Duch Święty robi coś, o czym Biblia nie uprzedza. Tak więc zielonoświątkowcy z „Późnego deszczu” zaczęli głosić, że Biblia nie wystarczy.

W latach trzydziestych koncepcja “Późnego deszczu” znowu zaznaczyła swoją obecność, kiedy William Branham zaczął nauczać o ponadnaturalnych manifestacjach i pokazywać je. Branham twierdził, że ma osobistego anioła, który objawia mu różne rzeczy, włącznie z proroctwem, że jest on Eliaszem, który miał przyjść przed powrotem Chrystusa. Utrzymywał również, że jest posłańcem do kościoła z Laodycei, który według niego był ostatnim kościołem w historii (na podstawie Ap 3). Tak więc W. Branham nie wierzył w wystarczalność Biblii.


The NOLR (New Order of the Later Rain)   (Nowy porządek w “Późnym deszczu”)
Koncepcja ta została wszczepiona w nauczanie kilku kaznodziei zielonoświątkowych, szczególnie w Vancouver, Kolumbii Brytyjskiej i Północnym Battleford, Saskatchewan, gdzie przebudzenie „Późny deszcz” stało się „Nowym porządkiem w późnym deszczu” (NORL). Zawierał się w nim pomysł, że Bóg ciągle pragnie czynić wielkie cuda przez kościół, takie, jakie robił w pierwszym wieku. Nie jest w stanie robić to w kościołach tradycyjnych z powodu braku wiary w nich. Ten nonsens, że Bóg jest ograniczony przez wiarę kościoła, nie tylko jest niebiblijny, ale zaprzecza suwerennemu Bogu, o którym uczy Biblia. Tak więc NOLR wyraźnie nie trzyma się Biblii, która jest wystarczająca.


W roku 1951 człowiek o nazwisku George Warnock napisał książkę The Feast of Tabernacles (Święto Tabernakulum), która stała się „Biblią” NORL. Warnock, tak samo jak Myland, dokonał zalegoryzowania izraelskiego wczesnego i późnego deszczu i zrobił z tego proroctwo dla kościoła. Książka Warnocka podaje alegoryczną interpretację świąt izraelskich, z których jedno – Święto Tabernakulum – pokazał jako udoskonalony kościół, który pojawi się na końcu czasów przed powrotem Chrystusa Zamiast oczekiwać przyjścia Chrystusa jako błogosławionej nadziei kościoła (Tytus 2,13) NORL poszukuje kościoła, który miałby stać się nowym „wcieleniem” Chrystusa na ziemi. „Błogosławiona nadzieja” kościoła w ten sposób staje się ironicznie samym kościołem.

Warnock twierdzi również, że Bóg stopniowo przywraca prawdy utracone w czasie historii kościoła. Uważa, że zaczęło się to od reformacji, ale że Luter poszedł za daleko, ponieważ – zamiast wierzyć w kapłaństwo wierzących, Warnock wierzy w elitarne kapłaństwo Melchizedeka, które odnosi się tylko do niektórych osób. Ten przyszły chwalebny kościół (NORL) powstanie, bo pójdzie za służbą nowych apostołów i proroków. Biblia więc nie może być brana pod uwagę jako wystarczające źródło przepowiadające przyszłość. Musi być alegorycznie interpretowana przez nowych proroków i apostołów (NORL). Innymi słowy, kościoły, w których wierzy się w wystarczalność Biblii, muszą być zastąpione (albo wyrugowane) przez nowe kościoły, które w tę wystarczalność nie wierzą.

The “Shepherding Movement” -  „Ruch pasterski”
Człowiek o nazwisku Ern Baxter był osobistym asystentem Williama Branhama i kiedy powstawał ruch charyzmatyczny w latach 70-tych, Baxter stał się jego kluczowym liderem. W końcu połączył się on z czterema innymi charyzmatykami, by stać się „Fortem Wielkiej Piątki”, co stało się znane jako tak zwany „Ruch pasterski”. W latach 70-tych i 80-tych ruch ten nauczał, że Bóg przemawia teraz do określonych pasterzy przez pozabiblijne objawienia. Pasterze ci byli bardziej niż inni zaawansowani w „słyszenie głosu Boga”. Słyszą oni wskazówki od Boga dla tych, którzy im podlegają. Tak więc staje się jasne, że w „Ruchu pasterskim” nie wierzy się w wystarczalność Biblii.

Bob DeWaay (od którego dostałem wiele z tego materiału) w artykule zatytułowanym “Korzenie i owoce nowej reformacji apostolicznej” (The Roots and Fruits of the New Apostolic Reformation) mówi o swoim byłym zaangażowaniu w ten ruch. http://cicministry.org/commentary/issue103.htm

>Z definicji, lider grupy, w którą byłem zaangażowany (nazywa się Jack Winter), “słyszy Boga”. Przyszedł uzbrojony w tajny skład opowiadań o cudownym prowadzeniu, które powtarzał, aby przekonać ludzi, że jeżeli chodzi o słuchanie Boga, to jest nieprześcigniony. Podlegali mu pasterze, którzy słyszeli Boga w sprawach ludzi podlegających im. Wszystko, co robiliśmy, było pod nadzorem tych „głównych pasterzy”.  Oznaczało to każdą decyzję – od tej, kogo poślubić, do najbardziej przyziemnych jak wybieranie się w podróż.
Gdyby ktoś zgłaszał silne zastrzeżenia co do tych aranżacji, Winter przyjechałby do miasta i wygłosiłby kazanie na temat „buntu Koracha” z zastosowaniem, że on, Winter jest „Mojżeszem” a ten ktoś, kto się nie zgadza – Korachem. Osobiście niejeden raz słyszałem takie kazanie.<
Przy okazji, Jim Samra, pastor Kościóła ponaddenominacyjnego Calvary (Calvary Undenominational Church) z Grand Rapids, Michigan (którego cytowałem powyżej) używa wielu tych samych argumentów w swojej książce „Dar kościoła” (The Gift of Church). Twierdzi, że słyszy Boga i jest szczególnym pasterzem Boga z powodu swojej pozycji pastora w lokalnym kościele. Używa również przykładu „buntu Koracha”, porównując siebie do Mojżesza, by móc rozprawić się z każdym, kto mógłby mu się sprzeciwić. Samra uważa: „Jezus, Wielki Pasterz swoich ludzi jest po prostu pierwszy w linii pasterzy, którzy wypełnią obietnicę z Jer 3,15 (103).
[Tak przy okazji: uczyłem w tym kościele klasę Szkoły Niedzielnej tylko dla dorosłych, przez 4 lata pomiędzy rokiem 1982 a 1986, kiedy pastorami byli tam George Gardner i Lewis Paul Leman. Obaj byli bogobojni i wierzyli w wystarczalność Biblii. Widocznie sprawy się zmieniły.]

NAR Nowa apostolska reformacja (New Apostolic Reformation)
Przełomowa data w historii kościoła to 21-23 maja 1996 roku. Wtedy to Dr C. Peter Wagner z Seminarium Fullera przeprowadził „Narodowe sympozjum kościoła postdenominacyjnego” (“The National Symposium on the Post-Denominational Church”). Czym ono rzeczywiście było to postreformacją, post-sola scriptura, postwystarczalnością Biblii, kościoła. Wagner (i inni) utrzymywali, że było to profetycznie zaaranżowane dzieło Ducha Świętego, by wypełnić Boży postępujący cel zaprowadzenia Jego kościoła do jego ostatecznego przeznaczenia. Sympozjum postawiło wniosek, że nadal są w kościele apostołowie i prorocy i ten nadchodzący ruch apostoliczny zrobi z kościoła chwalebną manifestację Boga w XXI wieku. Ten ruch był znany jako Nowa apostolska reformacja (NAR - New Apostolic Reformation) powtarzająca doktryny już promowane przez ruch „Późny deszcz” i NOLR.
Zwolennicy Wagnera twierdzą, że nowi, współcześni apostołowie mają władzę pierwszych apostołów.

Jednym z mówców na tym sympozjum był Bill Hamon, wspierany przez Wagnera. Twierdził on, że całe stworzenie czekało na objawienie się NAR Nowej Apostolskiej Reformacji, chwalebnego kościoła XXI wieku. W pełni odbudowany kościół pojawi się przed powrotem Jezusa.
Bob DeWaay pisze:
"Pokolenie Jozuego" – to inna alegoryzacja w tym ruchu. Przejście Jordanu do Ziemi Obiecanej przez Izraela jest interpretowane alegorycznie jako triumf kościoła nad wszystkimi wrogami aż do zajęcia ziemi, „każdego miejsca, które dotknie twoja stopa”.
Według nauczycieli z NORL i NAR królestwo Boże ustanawiane jest w historii przez kościół zanim Chrystus przyjdzie po raz drugi. Przyjaciel Wagnera Bill Hamon pisze:
>Rozpocznijmy gorliwą modlitwę, by pełne panowanie Jego dosłownego królestwa dokonało się nad wszystkimi narodami i ludźmi na ziemi… Będą modlić się i ogłaszać, że jest to czas ustanowienia Bożego królestwa nad całą ziemią – poprzez boską wydelegowaną władzę i służbę kościoła Chrystusa.> (Earl Paulk, Held In The Heavens Until… God’s Strategy for Planet Earth; Atlanta: K Dimension Publishers, 1985, s. 277).

IHOP (The International House Of Prayer) Międzynarodowy Dom Modlitwy
Istnieje jeszcze jedna ze służb, której powinniśmy być świadomi. Zapoczatkowana została w latach 80 tych i nazywa się Międzynarodowy Dom Modlitwy (IHOP). Dyrektorem jest Mike Bickle, który twierdzi, że w roku 1983 słyszał głos Boży, który mu polecił rozpocząć służbę 24- godzinnych modlitw w duchu przybytku Dawida. Kiedy określił, co by to miało znaczyć, narodził się IHOP. W artykule na stronie (http://cicministry.org/commentary/issue107.htm), Bob DeWaay tak ocenia ten ruch:


Widać, że służba IHOP - na bazie pozabiblijnych objawień - ogłasza, że nadejdzie lepszy kościół. Jest to odejściem od wystarczalności Biblii.

The Vineyard Church Armia Joela
Gdy CP Wagner w roku 1996 prowadził swoje sympozjum, miał wśród uczestników Johna Wimbera, który zainicjował Vineyard Church. Służby Vineyard przeprowadzały konferencje zagraniczne i w całym USA. Kościoły i denominacje zostały "sprozelitowane" i prześladowane
"ewangelią" o tym, że liderzy mają się przyłączać do Armii Joela. Jewel Grewe ze Służby Rozeznania (Discernment Ministries) sformułował podsumowanie ich poglądów. "Armia Joela" wierzy w:

1. Największe przebudzenie, które przedtem nie było znane w kościele
2. Największy chrzest Ducha w kościele, jakiego nigdy nie było
3. Największa armia (Armia Joela) wyróżniająca się niezwyciężonością, niemoralnością i boskością
4. Największe oczyszczenie ( badanie, inkwizycja) w historii kościoła
5. Największa służba - Wygrana Wieków
6. Największe cuda, ponadnaturalne znaki i cuda, przewyższające te, które czynili apostołowie i starzy prorocy

Grewe podsumowuje, iż ta fałszywa ewangelia nie bierze pod uwagę, że:
1. Izrael jest narodem Boga wybranym na zawsze i nastąpi pokuta oraz odnowienie ich wszystkich, zarówno fizyczne jak i duchowe, nastąpi jednego dnia, w czasie Drugiego Adwentu Jezusa Chrystusa (ich Mesjasza) (Rdz 17:7,13,19; Iz 66:7-8; Jr 31:35-37; Zach 12-14; Rz11:1-2,25-27);
2. Nastąpi wielkie wylanie Ducha Świętego na Izrael (naród żydowski) i na wszelkie ciało. Jezus Chrystus wróci z nieba ze Swoimi świętymi (kościołem) The great outpouring of the Spirit on Israel (the Jewish nation) and on all flesh, Jesus Christ returns from heaven with His pod koniec okresu ucisku (Zach 12:10-13; Joel 2:28; Dz 2:16-21);
3. Nastąpi pochwycenie – porwanie zarówno umarłych jak i żywych świętych, by spotkać Pana w powietrzu  (1 Tes 4:23-18; 2 Tm 2:1; J 14:1-3; 1Cor. 15:51-56);
4. Stanie sędziowski tron Chrystusa (2 Kor 5:10; Rz 14:10-12);
5. Będzie siedmioletni okres ucisku (Dn 9:24-27; Mt 24:21-22; Jr 30:4-7; Dn 12:1; Ap 6 19); i
6. Chrystus zstąpi z nieba razem ze Swoimi świętymi (Swoją PRAWDZIWĄ armią) na walkę Armagedon. (Zach 14:5; Judy 14; Ap 29:14)

To ma być największy cud od czasów Apostołów. wg nich wylanie Ducha z Joela 3 (lub 2,28-29 w BW) ma się zrealizować w naszych czasach. To wylanie Ducha będzie tak wielkie, że przekroczy wylanie z Dz 2. Nowy Kościół ma wg nich mieć nowego rodzaju ludzi - Armię Joela. Ci ludzie będą mieli cechy nadnaturalne

Trendy i ich omówienie
Ludzie odrzucający wystarczalność Biblii zawsze szukają dodatkowego prowadzenia, albo innego objawienia od Boga.
Oto przykład. Kiedy Rob Bell, kierujący afiliowanym w Emergent Church kościołem Mars Hill Church w Grandville, Michigan wprowadzał kobiety na urząd starszego, zostałem poproszony przez grupę ludzi sprzeciwiających się temu, abym przyszedł na ich spotkanie i podzielił się moją odmienną opinią. Wysłuchaliśmy najpierw nagrania wygłoszonego na ten temat kazania. Powiedziałem do około 300 ludzi zebranych tam w środowy wieczór, że  ich przywódcy nie wierzą w wystarczalność Biblii. W czasie dyskusji, zadawania pytań i udzielania odpowiedzi wstał jeden z pastorów i oświadczył, że on szczerze wierzy w wystarczalność Biblii. Wtedy zapytałem go o przykazanie z 1Tm 3,2, że starszy ma być mężem. Odparł, że tak było w tamtej kulturze, ponieważ w Efezie istniał wtedy silny kult feministyczny. Zapytałem, skąd o tym wie. Odpowiedział, że jeden z mówców zaproszonych przez Roba Bella, Ray Vanderlaan, tak nauczał na kazaniu. Dopytałem, skąd Ray Vanderlaan to wie. Odparł, że Ray jest uczonym w tym zakresie, więc zna kulturę starożytnego Efezu. Podsumowałem tak: Biblia uczy, że starszy ma być mężem, a Ray Vanderlaan mówi, że starszy nie musi być mężem, bo ma jakieś informacje spoza Biblii, czyli Biblia nie jest dla niego wystarczająca. Dyskutujący pastor oświadczył: ”Nie przyszedłem tu, aby się kłócić” – i wyszedł. Tak więc dla Roba Bella i jego zespołu z Mars Hill Church w Grandville Michigan Biblia nie jest wystarczającym objawieniem od Boga.

Pewien misjonarz przemawiał ostatnio w naszym kościele i powiedział nam, że Bóg poprowadził Go tak, aby pracował z kilkoma kościołami w Kolumbii. Jeżeli jest to prawdą, że Bóg osobiście poprowadził i pokierował nim w tym zakresie, to wtedy Biblia nie jest standardem wystarczającym do odpowiedzialnego podejmowania decyzji, bo nie ma w niej mowy o wyjazdach do Kolumbii. Misjonarz ten, stosujący słowa z Pisma nie miał z nich dość mądrości od Boga. Potrzebne mu było dodatkowe, pozabiblijne prowadzenie ze strony Boga. Misjonarz, który wie, że został osobiście pokierowany przez Boga na jakieś konkretne pole misyjne, nie wierzy w wystarczalność Biblii.
Bill Hybels z kościoła Willow Creek Community Church w South Barrington, Illinois, napisał książkę “Potęga Bożego szeptu” (Zondervan 2010). Mówi tak: “Moja wewnętrzna podróż pochodzi z serii niezaplanowanych podszeptów z nieba, które wyznaczyły mojemu życiu kurs, jakiego nigdy bym nie przewidział … Jestem mocno przekonany, że do ciebie też Bóg szepcze”. Przykłady biblijne, jakich używa Hybels są (1) sprzed setek lat (aż do 1000 lat wstecz, nie dane regularnie dla każdego wierzącego); (2) są to słyszane werbalne stwierdzenia, nie ciche „szepty”; (3) w unikalny sposób dane były patriarchom, prorokom, królom i apostołom a nie pojedynczym wierzącym; (4) bez żadnej biblijnej przepowiedni – jedyna przepowiednia odnosząca się do czasów przed powtórnym przyjściem Chrystusa odnosi się do fałszywych proroków. Tak więc, mimo, iż Bill Hybels wierzy, że Biblia jest potrzebna, to nie wierzy, że wystarcza, skoro potrzebujemy także szeptów od Boga
Dr. C. Peter Wagner, z Seminarium Fuller i przedstawiciel Nowej Reformacji Apostolskiej [New Apostolic Reformation (NAR)] twierdzi, że w dzisiejszym kościele są nowi apostołowie i nowi prorocy i że nadchodzący ruch apostoliczny będzie budował kościół, który stanie się chwalebną manifestacją Boga w XXI wieku. Są grupy podobne: Latter Rain (Późny deszcz), prorocy z Kansas; kościół Vineyard Church (Winnica), Armia Joel’a , oraz International House of Prayer (IHOP – Międzynarodowy Dom Modlitwy).
Mike Bickle, prezes i dyrektor IHOP, mówi, że nie powinniśmy pasywnie czekać na przyjście Chrystusa, ale aktywnie wprowadzać  je do zwycięskiego kościoła, który pokona Antychrysta i pozwoli wrócić Chrystusowi. Wydaje się, jakoby Jezus jest zatrzymany w niebie zanim nie zostanie ustanowiony chwalebny kościół, który pokona antychrysta. Bickle widzi  siebie jako człowieka wyznaczonego przez Boga do prowadzenia tego ruchu. Mike Bickle nie wierzy w wystarczalność Pisma.
Ewangelii cudów naucza się na całym wschodzie. Wiele (o ile nie większość) ludzi stających się chrześcijanami poprzez “zakładanie kościołów” w Indiach i w dalekim Oriencie (Korea, Chiny, Japonia) przychodzą do Boga poprzez cuda, wizje, uzdrowienia i różne przypuszczalne objawienia od Boga. Na wielu nabożeństwach nic nie mówi się z Biblii. Śpiewają, modlą się, opowiadają historie o cudach i uzdrowieniach. Cały wysiłek „zakładania kościołów” na wielu terenach bazuje na zaprzeczaniu wystarczalności Pisma.
Misjonarz przemawiający ostatnio w moim kościele powiedział, że Bóg poprowadził go do pracy z niektórymi kościołami w Kolumbii. Jeżeli jest to rzeczywiście prawdą, że Bóg osobiście poprowadził go do tego, to Biblia nie jest wystarczającą normą do podejmowania decyzji, skoro nic nie mówi o jego przeprowadzce do Kolumbii. Dla tego misjonarza stosowanie słów Pisma nie jest wystarczające do posiadania mądrości od Boga. Potrzebował także osobistego, pozabiblijnego prowadzenia.
W 1994 ukazała się książka Henry’ego Blackaby’ego „Doświadczając Boga”. Autor zachęca chrześcijan by odkryli wolę Bożą poprzez okoliczności, sytuacje życiowe i inne rzeczy. W całej Ameryce prowadzono kursy nt doświadczania Boga. Zgodnie z Blackaby’m mamy czytać Biblię, mamy się modlić, i mieć w sobie wrażliwość na wpływy typu: co inni chrześcijanie mi powiedzą, jakiego kazania wysłuchałem i jakie zaszły przypadkowe wydarzenia. Tak więc dla Henry’ego Backaby’go Biblia nie jest wystarczająca, byśmy dostali z niej właściwy kierunek postępowania.

Dr Jim Samra, pastor w Calvary Undenominational Church w Grand Rapids, Michigan, uważa, że Bóg mówi do ludzi (szczególnie do niego oraz przez niego jako pastora) będących członkami jakiegoś kościoła lokalnego. Samra przyrównuje kościół lokalny do Świątyni, a zwłaszcza Miejsca Najświętszego  w Starym Testamencie jako do miejsca objawiania się Boga. W swojej książce „Dar Kościoła” (“The Gift Of Church”) Samra wyraża takie myśli:

Tak więc dr Samra wierzy, że Biblia jest potrzebna, ale bardzo jednoznacznie nie wierzy w jej wystarczalność. Według niego Bóg objawia się w wystarczający  sposób nie  jednostkom  czytającym Biblię, ale poprzez kościół lokalny. Jednostka, rodzina, grupa czytająca Biblię, nie jest w stanie otrzymać wytycznych od Boga. Potrzebny jest więc kościół lokalny.

Czy my naprawdę tworzymy chwalebny i doskonały Kościół?
Postępowi religijni prorocy zawsze zakładają, że wiedzą, co Bóg zrobi i co nastąpi. Wiedzą rzekomo, jaki będzie Kościół, czym stanie się ich organizacja. Wielu ludzi to przekonuje. Ci postępowi nigdy nie mówią o tym, co było i jest, ale co wspaniałego nas czeka.
Co tak naprawdę się dzieje – to to, że cały ładunek informacji pozabiblijnych powoduje upadek moralności. W Kościele mamy do czynienia z epidemią rozwodów, ponownych małżeństw, aborcji homoseksualizmu, życia na kocią łapę. Wymówką jest: modliłem się i Bóg dał mi pokój w tym temacie. Jeśli ktoś krytykuje grzech – to jest krytykowany za brak miłości.

Przez cały wiek XX postępowcy religijni przepowiadali chwalebny kościół z nowym apostołami, nowymi prorokami i elitarną grupą wizjonerów, którzy otrzymują słowo od Boga i dokonują cudów.
Pwt 18:22 BT gdy prorok przepowie coś w imieniu Pana, a słowo jego będzie bez skutku i nie spełni się, [znaczy to, że] tego Pan do niego nie mówił, lecz w swej pysze powiedział to sam prorok. Nie będziesz się go obawiał.

Jaki mamy kościół teraz, na początku XXI wieku –?
Oto parę statystyk.

Nigdy wcześniej w historii chrześcijaństwa nurt konserwatywny (tak nazywa się ludzi wierzących Biblii) nie zaprzeczał istnieniu prawdy absolutnej, jak teraz. Teraz młodzi ludzie chodzący do kościoła i opisujący samych siebie jak nowo narodzeni, zgadzają się z tym, że nie ma takiej rzeczy jak prawda absolutna:

• w 1991---52%
• w 1994---62%
• w 1999---78%
• w 2005---91%

Nigdy wcześniej ludzi poszukujących Boga nie uważaliśmy za składową Kościoła. Z tych, co regularnie chodzą do Kościoła:

• 4% zgadza się, że Biblia jest bezbłędnym i prawdziwym Słowem Bożym i prawdą w każdej sytuacji
• 15% regularnie chodzących do kościoła chrześcijańskiego uważa, że relacja z Bogiem to najwyższy priorytet
• 26% uważa, że Jezus, żyjąc na ziemi, popełniał grzechy, tak jak inni ludzie
• 37% nowo narodzonych wierzy, że kto jest dobry, zapracuje na miejsce w niebie (2007)
• 46% uważa że Szatan to nie realny byt, ale symbol zła (2007)
• 65% wierzy, że nie wiadomo, czy jakakolwiek religia jest prawdziwa, włącznie z chrześcijaństwem
• 75% nastolatków wciągnęła się w co najmniej jeden rodzaj działalności angażującej psychikę lub powiązanej z wróżbiarstwem

Nigdy wcześniej najbardziej wpływowi chrześcijańscy pisarze nie

• Zaprzeczali wystarczalności Biblii
• Zniechęcali do osobistego ewangelizowania
• Wyśmiewali dziewicze poczęcie
• Wątpili w zmartwychwstanie Jezusa
• Głosili, że teologia jest nieważna
• Krytykowali chrześcijan za upominanie grzeszników

[Porównajmy sobie dzisiejszych pisarzy jak: McLaren, Yancey, Wagner, Samra, Hybels oraz Bell do np Augustyna, Tomasza z Akwinu, Lutra, Calvina, Spurgeona, Scofielda, Chafear, Lewisa, lub  Ryrie.]

Nigdy wcześniej rozwód i ponowne małżeństwo nie było akceptowane jako dobre rozwiązanie. Obecny odsetek rozwodów w kościele jest prawie taki sam jak w społeczeństwie (a nawet trochę wyższy) i wynosi około 50%.

Nigdy wcześniej nie krytykowano w Kościele piętnowania homoseksualizmu.

Nigdy wcześniej się nie zdarzyło, by udowadniano, że kobiety mogą uczyć mężczyzn. Przystępując np. do kościoła Willow Creek musisz podpisać zgodę, że kobieta będzie ciebie nauczała.

Nigdy wcześniej chrześcijanie (młodsi i starsi) nie współżyli seksualnie poza małżeństwem bez upominania ze strony chrześcijan. Z ambony tego się nie krytykuje

Nigdy wcześniej nie rozumiano, że dobry kościół to ten, co szybko rośnie.
Nigdy łaski nie rozumieliśmy jako przebaczenia bez pokuty,

Nigdy wcześniej nie definiowano dobrego kościoła jako tego, który szybko rośnie w liczbę zamiast tego, który uczy Słowa Bożego; też jako tolerującego grzeszników pozostających grzesznikami albo gdzie „dobry” oznacza tolerancyjny wobec grzechu lub gdzie „łaskę” definiuje się jako przebaczenie bez pokuty.

Dobrym pastorem nigdy wcześniej nie był rekordzista w ilości słuchaczy zamiast być kimś, kto uczy prawdy.

Nigdy wcześniej misje nie były definiowane jako praca społeczna bez Nakazu Misyjnego (z Mt 28,19-20 i Dz 1,8)

Nigdy wcześniej wspólnota (społeczność) nie była typu „akceptujemy naszych bo są nasi”. Dawniej warunkiem była świętość.

Nigdy wcześniej chrześcijanie nie organizowali wspólnych imprez z sektami i religiami które publicznie ogłaszają uniwersalizm wszystkich religii. Glen Back – aktywny politycznie mormon, właściciel stacji  TV, organizuje wielkie spotkania na które przychodzą liderzy chrześcijańscy. Fundacja Tony Blaira i Ricka Warrena jednoczy religie. Chrześcijanie lubią być z sektami.

Powyższe statystyki instytutu George Barna opisuja poprzedni wiek. W drugiej dekadzie XXI w. jest o wiele gorzej (biorąc pod ocenę biblijną moralność i teologię). Gdybyś zrobił wywiad z ludźmi spod lub znad kreski w jakimkolwiek z naszych kościołów, natknąłbyś się na romanse, cudzołóstwo, homoseksualizm, aborcje, pornografię, nielegalne narkotyki, ciągłe kłamstwo, oszukiwanie (małżonków, na klasówkach, w sprawozdaniach finansowych, podatkach i zakupach). „Przypadkowe” bluźnierstwo ma miejsce w każdej rozszerzonej rodzinie (nie musiałbyś zbyt rozszerzać tej rodziny). Gdybyś poskrobał po powierzchni życie ludzi chodzących do kościoła, znalazłbyś wszystkie zboczenia tego świata

Przeklinanie stało się naturalne. Dzisiaj Kościół nie różni się od świata. Przywódcy nie potępiają tego.

Nie ma grzechu, jaki obecnie nie byłby popełniany w Kościele. Dzisiaj łatwiej się grzeszy i jest to bardziej tolerowane. Kiedyś chłopcy szukali łatwych dziewczyn i było to trudno. Dzisiaj dziewczyny ciągną chłopców do łóżka.

Dodajmy do tego radykalną zmianę definicji małżeństwa i rodziny w celu wprowadzenia małżeństw homoseksualnych a także przyszłości naturalnej rodziny – instytucji kluczowej dla zdrowego społeczeństwa - tylko pogarsza sprawę.  Uniwersytety zboczyły - z uczenia wartości i dążenia do prawdy – na nietolerancyjne platformy dla zsekularyzowanych wartości politycznych i bezbożnej indoktrynacji. Z samozwańczym założeniem o posiadaniu autorytetu uczy się studentów, że Boga nie ma, życie należy do ciebie, grzech jest archaicznym mitem, a moralność to indywidualne preferencje. Jako kościół ponosimy odpowiedzialność za nasz upadek. To nie kultura zabiła , zmarginalizowała nas, kościół, ale my sami.


Jakoś wcale nie widać tego chwalebnego kościoła. Jezus opisał w Nowym Testamencie kościół pod koniec czasów, jednak nie jako zwycięski, ale odstępczy, pełen grzechu, fałszywych nauczycieli i proroków – dokładnie widzimy to dzisiaj.

Jezus powiedział: Wchodźcie wąską bramą, bo szeroka wiedzie na zniszczenie:

• Mt 7,13-15 bp Wchodźcie przez wąską bramę, bo szeroka brama i szeroka droga prowadzą na zatracenie i wielu tędy idzie. A jakże ciasna jest brama i jak wąska droga, która prowadzi do życia! I niewielu ją okrywa! Strzeżcie się fałszywych proroków, którzy przychodzą do was w owczych skórach, a w środku są drapieżnymi wilkami.
• Mk 13,22 bp Pojawią się bowiem fałszywi mejsasze i fałszywi prorocy, i będą czynić znaki zdumiewające, ażeby, jeśli to możliwe, zwieść wybranych.
• J 18,36 bp Jezus odrzekł: - Królestwo moje nie jest z tego świata. Gdyby moje królestwo było z tego świata, słudzy moi walczyliby, abym nie został wydany Judejczykom, a przecież moje królestwo nie jest stąd.

Paweł napisał tak:
2Tes 2:1-3 bp ⁽¹⁾ Bracia! W sprawach dotyczących przyjścia Pana naszego Jezusa Chrystusa i naszego z Nim spotkania prosimy was, (2) nie dajcie się wyprowadzić zbyt łatwo z równowagi ducha ani nie trwóżcie się z powodu jakiegoś objawienia prorockiego, nauczania lub przypisywanego nam listu, jakoby już nadchodził dzień Pański. (3) Niech was nikt w żaden sposób nie wprowadza w błąd. Bo najpierw musi dojść do odstępstwa i objawi się człowiek grzechu, syn zatracenia.
Mamy więc coraz więcej odstępstwa, grzechu, fałszywych nauczycieli.

Istnieje jeszcze inny problem
Mamy więc kościół pełny grzechu i fałszywych proroków, tak jak Biblia zapowiada to na koniec czasów; ale mamy też prawdziwie nowo narodzonych wierzących, którzy zamiast potępiać takie grupy, łączą się z nimi i spotykają się z tymi fałszywymi apostołami, fałszywymi nauczycielami i fałszywymi prorokami.

W sierpniu 2010 chrześcijanie zgromadzili się z Glennem Beckiem na “ Spotkaniu Odnawiającym Honor” w Waszyngtonie DC. Podobne spotkanie miało miejsce w Izraelu w sierpniu 2011. Również w sierpniu 2011 chrześcijanie zgromadzili się z gubernatorem Texasu Rickiem Perry na spotkanie modlitewne nazwane „Odpowiedź: powołanie do modlitwy o naród w kryzysie”. To spotkanie zawierało NAR (Nowa apostoliczną reformacja) i jej pokłosie: „Późny deszcz”, Prorocy z Kansas City, Armię Joela i IHOP (International House of Prayer - Międzynarodowy dom modlitwy).

Oczywiście nie będziemy zgadzać się z wszystkimi religijnymi przekonaniami naszych politycznych kandydatów. Nie chcę przez to powiedzieć, że gubernator Rick Perry należy do tych grup. Chodzi o to, że nie były to po prostu spotkania polityczne, ale religijnie zorientowane zgromadzenia i tak zwani biblijnie wierzący chrześcijanie nie mieli problemu z obracaniem się w kręgu grup zaprzeczających wystarczalności Biblii.

Glenn Beck jest mormonem, który wierzy, że księga Mormona musi być dodana do objawienia od Boga. Nasz Bóg jest jednym z wielu bogów, a Jezus stał się bogiem tak samo, jak my wszyscy możemy stać się bogami. Człowiek ten ciągle łączy Amerykę z Izraelem, ponieważ widzi Amerykę jako Bożą ziemię obiecaną, tak jak dyktuje teologia mormonów. Tak więc chrześcijanie spotykają się z mormonem, który promuje mormoński pogląd na przyszłość zakładający, że Biblia nie wystarcza.

Amerykański związek rodzin (AFA American Family Association) sponsoruje to wydarzenie. AFA jest częścią Praw religijnych a.k.a. Praw chrześcijan (CR Christian Right). Czy fakt, że ludzie zaangażowani w to, co wielu określa jako sektę lub coś w tym rodzaju, pomylili się albo zaniedbali sprawdzenie faktów jako AFA? Nie. Doskonale wiedzą, kim są ci ludzie i mimo to zdecydowali się na połączenie się z nimi.

Dlaczego więc grupa tak zwana chrześcijańska przyjaźni się z członkami tak zwanej sekty chrześcijańskiej? Można określić to jednym słowem: pragmatyzm. Jest to filozofia  typu “cel uświęca środki”. W tym przypadku celem jest umotywowanie ludzi, by pokazali się na spotkaniu modlitewnym.

Możemy więc zobaczyć, że nie są zaangażowane w to po prostu tylko charyzmatyczne grupy. Inne grupy ewangeliczne i niecharyzmatyczne kościoły łączą się, by poprzeć pozabiblijną koncepcję zakładającą niewystarczalność Biblii.

Jak widzieliśmy NAR i jej odgałęzienia wierzą, że istnieją współcześni apostołowie przemawiający do kościoła jak apostołowie w dniu Pięćdziesiątnicy. Tak więc chrześcijanie gromadzą się w religijnym kontekście razem z tymi, którzy w jasny sposób zaprzeczają wystarczalności Biblii. To samo ma miejsce za każdym razem, kiedy chrześcijanie idą do megakościoła zorientowanego na poszukujących. Poszukujący są zapraszani nie tylko po to, by spotkać kościół, ale całe nabożeństwo jest nastawione na nich. Te same rzeczy dzieją się, kiedy chrześcijanie angażują się w służbę Roba Bella albo Jima Samara, którzy dodają do Biblii zamiast stosować ją.
Co Biblia mówi o takich spotkaniach?
Apostoł Paweł powiedział do Koryntian:
2 Kor 6,14-17 Nie wprzęgajcie się z niewierzącymi w jedno jarzmo. Cóż bowiem na wspólnego sprawiedliwość z niesprawiedliwością? Albo cóż ma wspólnego światło z ciemnością?
Albo jakaż jest wspólnota Chrystusa z Beliarem lub wierzącego z niewiernym? Co wreszcie łączy świątynię Boga z bożkami? Bo my jesteśmy świątynią Boga żywego - według tego, co mówi Bóg: Zamieszkam z nimi i będę chodził wśród nich, i będę ich Bogiem, a oni będą moim ludem. Przeto wyjdźcie spośród nich i odłączcie się od nich, mówi Pan, i nie tykajcie tego, co nieczyste, a Ja was przyjmę.
Później Paweł powiedział Efezjanom:
Ef 5,5-11 O tym bowiem bądźcie przekonani, że żaden rozpustnik ani nieczysty, ani chciwiec - to jest bałwochwalca - nie ma dziedzictwa w królestwie Chrystusa i Boga. Niechaj was nikt nie zwodzi próżnymi słowami, bo przez te grzechy nadchodzi gniew Boży na buntowników. Nie miejcie więc z nimi nic wspólnego!
Niegdyś bowiem byliście ciemnością, lecz teraz jesteście światłością w Panu: postępujcie jak dzieci światłości! Owocem bowiem światłości jest wszelka prawość i sprawiedliwość, i prawda. In July of 1999, the Messianic Jewish Association of America [MJAA] sponsored the Messiah'99 conference in conjunction with the Young Messianic Jewish Alliance [YMJA] and the International Alliance of Messianic Congregations and Synagogues. The conference speakers included Rick Joyner of MorningStar Ministries, Stephen Strang, editor of ‘Charisma’ Magazine and Stephen Katz, a recruiter for Jews for Jesus. Rick Joyner’s prophecy revealed the divine plan for a "Revolution in the Church” and the need for Messianic Jews to help reform the Church. Revolution is not a new subject for this modern prophet, but the venue of Joyner’s latest prophecy of a revolution in the Church is revealing. Compare:
The Harvest [Dec. 1989]: "What is about to come upon the earth is not just a revival, or another awakening; it is a veritable revolution. The vision was given in order to begin to awaken those who are destined to radically change the course, and even the very definition of Christianity. The dismantling of organizations and disbanding of some works will be a positive and exhilarating experience for the Lord's faithful servants. A great company of prophets, teachers, pastors and apostles will be raised up with the spirit of Phineas." [1]
Messiah '99: “I believe if you become like the Church something is lost. Listen, there’s a whole lot that the Church, believe me, I really believe there must be a revolution. I don’t believe the Church is anything close to what we’re called to be either. I’m speaking as a member of the Church. I believe I have the right to say that. . .There is a revolution going on in the Church too. Believe me something awesome is taking place. There are rumblings going on. I mean there’s one thing to have a revival and that’s wonderful. But we‘re talking about a revolution. We’re talking about the Reformation isn’t over. The Reforming. I believe it’s just beginning in many ways. And you know what? We can look and say it took 500 years for the Reformation to do this much and that isn’t much.” [2]
When Rick Joyner initially prophesied a Revolution in the Church, he spoke of dismantling present Church structures. However, [we assume] God had not yet revealed to him the nature of this revolution and the course it would take, or “what” the Church would become in the aftermath. Now, it has pleased God to make that direction clear to his prophet, Joyner, who has confided his vision of the New Church and how to get there to the assembly of Messianic Jews.
Not privy to the heavenly revelations received by the anointed company of the modern prophets, the average Christian is left to speculate as to the nature of the New Church. However, there are important clues scattered along the path of the various movements afoot indicating what we may expect, as well as the drastic measures that will be taken to move the sheep out of their comfortable pasture onto an unfamiliar terrain. This series of reports will examine the seemingly varied and diverse heretical streams on the Christian landscape and locate the final point where, incredibly, all will converge in a religious system that represents the IDEAL of each one. In "Paradigm Shifts for the 21st Century", Jim Goll of Ministry to the Nations describes this convergence as The Great Revolution:
"A convergence of the ages shall come upon us. The anointing of the Pentecostal Fire, the Healing and Deliverance Crusades, the Latter Rain Presence, the Evangelical Burden for the Lost, the Charismatic Giftings, the Third Wave Credibility, the Revelation of the Prophetic Movement and the relational networking of the Apostolic Reformation shall all merge together into a tidal wave that will eclipse the impact of reformation of 500 years ago and create what could be called The Great Revolution.
"The Lord will give the church an opportunity to re-write her stained and spotted history. Radical deeds of identificational repentance, acts of mercy to the poor and the oppressed, presence and power encounters to the sick and the demonized, warrior praise and intercession arising over cities will mount as a Revolution comes upon the global body of Christ and creating a great societal awakening! If history books are written of the years that lie ahead, they might be termed The Days of His Glorious Presence."
THE GREAT REVOLUTION
In "The Harvest," Rick Joyner disclosed that in the forthcoming revolution an "army" will remove those -- labeled stumbling blocks -- who refuse the unity teachings of the modern prophets. According to Joyner, “. . .to remove the stumbling blocks . . . a great company of prophets, teachers, pastors and apostles will be raised up with the spirit of Phinehas.”. After this revolution in the Church, “very young Christians will be pastoring large bodies of believers”:
". . .Some pastors and leaders who continue to resist this tide of unity will be removed from their place. Some will become so hardened they will become opposers and resist God to the end. Most will be changed and will repent of their resistance. . . . There will be many 'stumbling blocks' circulating in the Church that will cause confusion and some destruction from time to time. They will perceive themselves as prophets sent to judge and deliver. Those serving in leadership must trust their discernment and remove the stumbling blocks.
"To be distinguished from the 'stumbling blocks,' a great company of prophets, teachers, pastors and apostles will be raised up with the spirit of Phinehas. Just as the son of Eleazar could not tolerate iniquity in the camp of the Lord, this 'ministry of Phinehas' will save congregations, and at times even whole nations from the plagues that will be sweeping the earth. They will be moved by the jealousy of the Lord for the purity of His people. They will be sent to save and preserve the work of the Lord, not tear down, as the stumbling blocks do. . . Huge masses of people will be streaming to the Lord, the inflow so great in places that very young Christians will be pastoring large bodies of believers. Arenas and stadiums will overflow nightly as the believers come together to hear the apostles and teachers.
". . .Extraordinary miracles will be common while those considered great today will be performed almost without notice by young believers. Angelic appearances will be common to the saints and a visible glory of the Lord will appear upon some for extended periods of time as power flows through them. . . .Those in leadership will be the most humble of all. When anyone presumes leadership without calling, it will be apparent to all.
"This harvest will be so great that no one will look back at the early Church as a standard; all will be saying that the Lord has certainly saved His best wine for last. The early Church was a firstfruits offering; truly this will be a harvest! It was said of the Apostle Paul that he was turning the world upside down; it will be said of the apostles soon to be anointed that they have turned an upside down world right side up. Nations will tremble at the mention of their name. . ." [3]
Another modern prophet of Rick Joyner’s caliber is Bob Jones (not to be confused with Bob Jones III, president of Bob Jones University). Jones was one of the Kansas City Prophets before becoming involved in an indiscretion, after which John Wimber of the Vineyard Fellowship forgave Jones, allowed him to continue ministry and adopted the Kansas City Church into the Vineyard. Bob Jones taught that God was preparing a "special breed" comprised of young people up to the age of thirty. In his book, Blessing the Church?, Clifford Hill wrote of Jones’ confidence that this younger generation will “take control of the world and present the kingdom to Christ on his return.”
"Jones believed that the generation of children born since 1973 would form the final generation of believers whom God was preparing as the Bride of Christ to take control of the world and present the kingdom to Christ on his return. He [Jones] continued, 'I do believe what he's beginning to do is a restoration of his very nature down here. Your children will come behind you and they'll start on your level of righteousness and holiness and they'll take off from there.'"[4]
Pioneer of the Latter Rain Revival, Paul Cain, described the supernatural powers that will distinguish the new breed, -- a "dreadful, fearful army of champions.”
"God's strange act is going to bring a new order of things and bring a new breed in and bring a transformation."
"Little children are going to lay their hands on the sick and heal multitudes . . .We are going to be just like the Lord. . .They're going to say, 'Here comes that dreadful, fearful army of champions. Here comes those with a word of knowledge, the word of wisdom, the working of miracles, with a healing ministry, with the power to heal the sick and raise the dead, with the power to know what's going on behind the Iron Curtain.' You're really going to be a fearsome group before this thing's all over." [5]
John Wimber, founder of the Vineyard Movement, also launched the Signs and Wonders movement based on the concept that manifestations of supernatural power are necessary to authenticate the gospel. Wimber had a vision of an up and coming "army" of "dread champions" upon which would be unleashed a power of “unprecedented magnitude.”
"God has given us a vision to see the body of Christ move from being an inactive audience to a Spirit-filled army . . . God is about to unloose a powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit of an unprecedented magnitude . . . He is looking for individuals who will be 'dread champions' for his cause." [6]
Restorationists, who maintain that the Church has been lost and must be restored, and Dominionists, who believe that the Church must reign on earth, teach that a great army of end-time saints is prophesied in Joel 2 and that “Joel’s Army”will be called upon by heads of state to "police" the nations with supernatural power. According to John Wimber and Paul Cain, before Christ returns, this company of mere youths will conquer the nations, having authority to dispense judgment on the ungodly and those who reject their leadership:
"It is also interesting to see how Cain used prophecy to confirm the Latter Rain teaching that evangelization would result from the supernatural power which was going to be given to believers. This teaching was central to Wimber's message. In the same speech Paul Cain prophesied that the new breed would possess power to overcome the enemies of the gospel and strike terror into them, 'There's going to be an awesome, reverential fear and respect for the church because the church is going to regain her power, lose her restrictions, lose her weakness . . . you're going to be called upon by presidents and kings of nations, heads of state. . . God is going to have his army and they are going to be a fearful bunch and they are going to go to every place on the face of the earth. . ." [7]
NEWS FLASH!
The time frame for the ascendance of Joel’s Army to power has been given in a prophecy to Peter Wagner's Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders:
"The church will be in key transition period between 2000-2003. During this period the youth in particular will be transitioning into revival."[8]
On this Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders is the co-founder of Generals of Intercession, Cindy Jacobs. On August 14, 2000, Jacobs issued “A Prophetic Call to Revolution” to Christian youth. This prophecy foretold that certain churches would become official “command posts for revolution” and that God now was calling “radical revolutionaries to the church.”
“For I would say to you, My children there is a page turning in the heavenlies, and at the top of this page I have one word, and it's 'revolution.' And I am getting ready to write a new page of history among the believers of this nation.
“For there is a radical sound that I have issued - there is a sound that has come from heaven, and it even now has come to earth. And the Lord says, these are going to be days where I am going to trouble the enemy through you. These are going to be different days than you have ever known, and I am going to require sacrifice of you that you cannot imagine. I am going to require a sacrifice of your children, says the Lord. And the Lord says, I'm going to shake everything that can be shaken. . .
“For I would say to you, my children, you are going to come out of the wilderness. And I have found a Caleb generation, says the Lord, who say we are well able to take the mountain, we are well able to take those strongholds that have been built in the nearly 40 years in this nation, since prayer has been taken out of school.
“There are churches that will be command posts for revolution, and to these command posts I would say, I am going to bring a revolution. Look and see; I am calling radical revolutionaries to the church. There is a sound going forth from heaven, says the Lord. I am calling from the north and the south and the east and the west. They're going to move, they're going to change universities to come to these command posts. They're going to change jobs. I'm going to bring the 18, 19, 20, 21 year olds, and they're going to mentor the generation under them. And then the high schoolers are going to mentor the generations under them.
“And I would say, these youth are going to put the adults to shame. Because they're going to be full of holy passion, a fiery passion for the Lord. So the Lord says, get ready for I have said many things over the church, and I have made many promises. With some of you, hope deferred has made the heart grow sick. But I have found the way for the church and for this youth, says the Lord. And the Lord says, there is going to be a day when there are as many youth as adults in these command post churches, for I am going to move-I would not pass you by.
“And the Lord says I'm going to put the gift of evangelism in the youth of these churches. I'm going to cause them to bring souls, and souls and souls. They're going to invade the high school campuses. They're going to invade the universities of their cities.
“And the Lord says, I am calling for an invasion from these churches, from my command posts. And the Lord says get ready, get ready, get ready, for it begins today.” [9]
THE CALL, D.C.
Three weeks after this prophecy, a massive youth gathering was held in Washington, D.C. On September 2, 2000, 75,000 to 100,000 teenagers and young adults assembled on the Washington Mall to “start a revolution.” According to Intercessors for America, THE CALL, D.C. received favorable coverage in the Washington Post.
"’PRAYERS ON THE MALL’ AND ‘YOUNG CHRISTIANS LEAD CALL FOR SPIRITUAL REBIRTH’ HEADLINED THE CALL DC NEWS -- The Sept. 3 Washington Post headlines show that your prayers were definitely answered in a big way. Many reporters wrote in terms of ‘tens of thousands of Christian youth’ gathering on the Mall last Saturday, and size estimates vary - from 75,000 to 100,000 or more. The Washington Post accounts noted that the rounds of repentance and concerted prayer called for reconciliation between children and parents, an end to abortion and sexual immorality, the return of prayer in schools, a call to fasting and loving evangelism, personal commitment to purity and radical Nazarite-type lifestyles, and the sparking of a "new spiritual revolution." Most in attendance fasted for the entire day.”[10]
The Call, D.C. was originally advertised as "a gathering of fasting youth [ages 14-24] to converge on the Washington Mall on September 2, 2000." Later in the campaign, The Call, D.C. was billed as "a massive gathering of two generations who are desperate for revival . . .A historic gathering of children, youth and their parents." Like the Promise Keepers, The Call, D.C. was a "solemn assembly":

THE CALL is a solemn assembly.
The Call DC is a response to the urgent summons in Joel 2:15-18, given at a time of crisis. "Declare a holy fast … Call a sacred assembly … bring together the elders, gather the children." The vision is to call a solemn assembly of Christian young people and their parents to fast and pray for repentance and revival in our nation. The program will also include speakers and worship, and will last from dawn until dusk (6:00 am to 6:00 pm). We expect youth, their youth leaders, parents and significant adults in their lives to attend. It is non-denominational. People of all races, ethnic groups and social backgrounds will attend.
THE CALL is about reconciliation between generations - adults and children.
America's youth are facing their darkest hour. Beyond the Columbine massacre and the Wedgewood Baptist Church shootings, we are seeing a whole generation under satanic attack. Eighty-eight percent of America's more than 30 million teenagers are unchurched. Of the 12 percent who do currently attend church, 80 percent will stop attending before they graduate from high school. Surveys show that 90 percent of people who give their lives to Christ do so before the age of 30.
At every critical turning point in the Old Testament, we see a call to the nation of Israel for prayer and fasting. We believe that in order for America to experience revival, we must see the fulfillment of Malachi 4:6. One of The Call's main purposes is to see God "turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and turn the hearts of the children to their fathers." We are asking for the fathers' blessing on the youth of America. [11]

"Yet the rumbles of revival can be heard, the distant sounds of a spiritual downpour that will bring a massive harvest. At a time when the voice of the church has been drowned out by the blare of talk shows and video games, the youth of this nation have been shaken to their core by the courage of young martyrs in places like Columbine and Wedgewood. There is a stirring in campuses and high schools. Young people are fasting, praying, evangelizing with a new passion. And now The Call has gone out - a summons to those who are desperate for revival and are willing to fast and pray to see God touch our nation.
"The Call DC is a response to the summons in Joel 2:15-18, "Declare a holy fast… Call a sacred assembly . . . bring together the elders, gather the children." A historic gathering of children, youth and their parents will occur at the Washington, DC Capitol Mall, September 2, 2000. Here, in the same place, a million men gathered three years ago to renew covenant - with their families and with God. But every generation must renew the covenant for themselves and now is the time for the next generation to do so. Just as the godly fathers of America gathered, so too must their children.
"The nation that has broken families and fatherless children is under a curse (Malachi 4:6). For revival to come, we need to see a profound reconciliation between parents and their children. One of The Call's main purposes is to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers.
"Revival has always been with the young. And it will be so again. Our campuses and schools have been the birthplaces of revival before -- may it happen again! In this season of harvest, let us gather to commission our youth with a mandate for this millenium and commit ourselves to mentor and equip them. . ." [12]
Revolution was the theme of The Call, D.C. To attract large numbers of teenagers to The Call, D.C., the original website was billed as "a repository for propaganda to support a national youth revolution against the status quo." The Call, D.C. Home Page displayed the image of a shirtless male with attitude (reminiscent of Abercrombie & Fitch porno-types) and background graffiti. The origins of The Call, D.C. can be traced to the U.S. Center for World Missions [USCWM] – an offshoot of Fuller Seminary -- and their Harvest Rock Church, whose pastor is Che Ahn, President of The Call, D.C. Lou Engle, a pastor at Che Ahn’s Harvest Rock Church is founder of The Call, D.C., Call, D.C. Executive Director for Mobilization of Youth and Vice President of Rock the Nations. Engle used the term “Extreme Youth” to describe the up and coming generation who were inspired -- not by the Holy Spirit -- but by video, audio, posters, etc. to "GO TO DC and start another Jesus Movement".

Underground Propaganda still provides "cool banners" and locker posters for advertising The Call, D.C. on websites. One animated banner displaying teens carrying a sign stating "WILL WORK FOR REVOLUTION!" metamorphoses to announce: "the jesus revolution continues. . ." Another banner states "same movement . . .cuter hair" -- alternating pictures of long-haired hippie vs. updated punk style.[13]
Seeking parental guidance for attendance at The Call, DC was not encouraged; instead, young people were urged to persuade parents to permit them to attend an event which they might otherwise discern as unbiblical:

Having circumvented the Holy Spirit's leading through parental discretion and guidance of their children, The Call, D.C. Executive Director, Lou Engle, had the audacity to state that this event -- in conjunction with the Promise Keepers Sacred Assembly of October 4, 1997 -- will be the fulfillment of Malachi 4:5-6.
"According to Engle, the PromiseKeepers gathering represented the turning of the hearts of the fathers to the children. Now, three years later, The Call is set to represent before God's throne the turning of the hearts of children to their fathers." [Generals of Intercession News]
"I believe that a massive spiritual earthquake occurred, at the Promise Keepers event in Washington D.C., as the fathers turned their hearts to the children, I believe, the curse began breaking over America. That event was a hinge upon which the doors of history opened."
". . .the Lord [is] now summoning [youth] to respond, to be the counterpart to the PK rally: a million young people on the D.C. Mall!. There would be the turning of the hearts of the children to the fathers. . .A national blessing or curse is decided by this change of heart or the lack of it. This is the Elijah Revolution!"[15]
Previously promoted as God's chosen vessel for turning the hearts of the fathers to the children was the Promise Keepers' Sacred Assembly. On October 4, 1997, 500,000 men assembled to worship before the Washington Monument, a Masonic obelisk. Like the 1997 PK Stand in the Gap Conference, The Call, D.C. opened the pagan worship of Native American tribes and the blowing of the shofar. Few of the youths attending this ceremony would realize that the “cultural worship of Native Americans” was Sun worship.
"As the sun came up and the day got underway, Native Dancers and a large team of 50-60 men and women, dressed in white outfits took the stage at the same time. The day was ushered in with the blowing of shofars and Native American Worshippers and Dancers in full First Nations regalia. It was the right way to initiate this CALL. What better way than to honor the cultural worship of Native Americans, the First people of this nation and the Jewish People--God's first CHOSEN NATION?"[16]
RADICAL NAZARITES?
The Call, D.C.was heralded as the commencement of The Elijah Revolution. A companion website titled The Elijah Revolution features Lou Engle's Prayer CDs, Prayers for the Elijah Revolution, X-treme Disciples and Joann McFatter's Temple Dance, all of which can be purchased at the Revolution Store. Another page recalls Hitler's Youth Movement, another youth army of unhappy memory.
Nazis or Nazarites?
"A mighty youth army is gathering spontaneously, apparently out of nowhere. In the dark hours before the dawn, dew starts to collect on the ground that was dry the night before. It's an enemy's worst nightmare: to wake up and be suddenly surrounded by an army that appeared out of thin air! What had been an empty field the night before, is now filled with soldiers whose weapons and armor glint like dew in the sunrise. Overnight, an army of consecrated young people are going to emerge out of this present darkness. Though presently unseen, this vast youth army is already mobilizing. Invisible now, invincible later. This is an army like no other - ever. The millennium awaits them."[17]
An excerpt from Michael Brown’s The Jesus Manifesto: A Call to Revolution on The Elijah Revolution website, explains the need for a revolution: “What precedes revolutions is a growing awareness that things are not the way they ought to be.” To allay any fears or suspicions that this radical youth movement might get out of hand or be exploited to implement a fascist state, Brown adds a disclaimer.
"This revolution will not be fought with earthly weapons of destruction – not with guns and knives and bullets and bombs. It will not be fought with hatred, intimidation, or brute force. No. It will be fought with the message of the gospel, with the love of God, with the power of the Spirit, with radical holiness, with sacrifice, compassion, and courage. It will be a Jesus revolution, an intense clash between two spiritual kingdoms, a heavenly attack on the enemy's strongholds, a no compromise stand for morality and truth. And it will impact society in a lasting way. It must!…"[18]
References to the adoption of "radical Nazarite-type lifestyles" require more elaboration than is offered by The Call, D.C. The President of The Call, D.C., Che Ahn was mentored by the very New Age Dick Iverson. Iverson also mentored Pastor Wendell Smith of the WA City Church which holds 'Dragon Slayer' New Generation youth seminars. Wendell Smith belongs to the Church of the Nazarene as does James Dobson and his wife, Shirley. In fact, Dr. Dobson is descended from three generations of Nazarene ministers.
Merovingian literature, such as Bloodline of the Holy Grail, promotes the Nazarene tradition which is "another gospel" with "another Christ" -- an initiate of the gnostic Essene Community of Qumran:
"The scriptures also say that Jesus was a ' Nazarene' -- but this does not mean that he came from the town of Nazareth. Although Luke 2:39 implies that Joseph's family came from Nazareth, the term Nazarene (or Nazarite) was strictly sectarian, and had nothing to do with the town. . . [Variants of the word Nazarene] ultimately derive from the Hebrew Nozrim, a plural noun stemming from the term Nazrie-ha-Brit 'Keepers of the Covenant', a designation of the Essene Community at Qumran on the Dead Sea . . . every reference to 'Nazareth' in English translations of the Gospels must be regarded as incorrect -- stemming from a misunderstanding of the word Nazarene. . .
"John the Baptist and Jesus' brother James were both Nazarites, but the sectarian term can be traced back to the Old Testament figures of Samson and Samuel. Nazarites were ascetic individuals bound by strict vows through predetermined periods. . .In the Gospel era, Nazarites were associated with the Essene Community of Qumran -- the environment of Joseph and Mary."[19]
The Old Testament proscription of Nazarites from wine and strong drink, shaving, and physical corruption is found in Numbers 6. Samson, of the Tribe of Dan and who judged Israel during the Philistine occupation, is regarded as the first Nazarite. Judges 13:4,5 describes the command of angel of the Lord to Samson's mother: "For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come upon his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb. . ."
The significance of John the Baptist as a Nazarene/Nazarite will come into view as this series progresses. The Cult of the Black Virgin, by Ean Begg, classifies John the Baptist as an Essene and mentions that the Nazarene tradition of long hair was continued by the Merovingians and the Knights Templar:
"If, as seems likely, John was an Essene, influenced by the school of the Dead Sea Scrolls at Qumran, then he is part of a new mystical climate in Judaism, encompassing Philo's Alexandrian Therapeuts, in which the Gospel of the Kingdom was to grow and thrive. The Gnostic tradition that he represents has proved the most durable of all and still survives in Mesopotamia among the Mandaeans, also known as Nasoraeans and Christians of St John. The Merovingians, like the Nasoraeans/Nazarenes of old, never cut their hair. The Templars, too, were sometimes considered to be Christians of St John." [20]
Although the distinguishing characteristic of a Nazarite -- a man set apart to God under the Old Covenant -- was long hair, under the New Covenant "if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him". [I Cor.11:14] It would appear that the direction of the present revolution is bringing Christians under the Old Covenant. However, this is not the case, despite the incessant framing of Gnostic concepts with Old Testament terminology. Rather, the leaders of this revolution are leading naive youth into the New Age of the Gnostic Essene cult which is emerging from its underground haunt soon to become "The Church of St. John in the Age of the Spirit".
A major emphasis of The Call, D.C. is fasting into which mode the youth are being moved from September 20-October 29.
“Young Christians beat their elders to the punch by taking the initiative and calling their generation to a 40-day pre-election prayer and fasting vigil September 20-October 29. Multitudes are fasting and praying over their school lunch hours with this focus: for historic revival in America; "holy revolution" in their schools; the 2000 general elections. The call to “radical Nazarite-type lifestyles” puts this 40-day fast in a different category than Biblical fasting. A radical Nazarite-type lifestyle is the salvation by works mentality found in monastic orders. The “call” of this youth movement is, in fact, a call to a life of asceticism -- the practice of strict self-denial as a means of religious self discipline. The ritual fasting of the Nazarene Community of Essenes would have been akin to the asceticism of the Kabbalist who seeks union with God through such means.
“According to the Kabbalists, evil is essentially finite, as opposed to the divine good. . . Evil is an appearance not a substance, and a man’s sin consists of his separation from the Divine Being. . . By penitence and asceticism man can . . . attain union with perfection.” [22]
Recall that Laurence Gardner stated in Bloodline of the Holy Grail, "Nazarites were ascetic individuals bound by strict vows through predetermined periods. . ." Louis Engle's Live the Call homepage encourages young people to "make a vow," in direct disobedience of Jesus' command, "Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil." [Matt. 5:37]
Throughout the Christian Right is being purveyed the notion that if Christians will make heroic efforts of fasting and prayer, God will bless the nation’s elections with a Christian administration and Congress. The next item on the IFA newsletter is Charisma Magazine’s interview of Gov. George Bush on the subject of his faith. Bush gives his politically correct testimony which is profoundly lacking the genuineness of true Biblical conversion. Charisma and Bush fail to distinguish between a “person of faith” and a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no mention of Jesus whatsoever, only Christ.
Sadly, the Moral Majority will justify its collective vote for a third generation member of the Order of Skull and Bones on the basis of a bogus testimony and delusions of a Christian government. The CIA controllers of Christian Right, using highly developed mind control techniques, seem to have permanently disabled the critical faculties of Christians and reprogrammed them like members of a large cult. The fascinating History of the Order of Skull and Bones chronicles the development of Yale University as the fountainhead of American espionage, drug smuggling and secret societies.
“Yale has influenced the Central Intelligence Agency more than any other university, giving the CIA the atmosphere of a class reunion. And “Bonesmen” have been foremost among the “spooks” building the CIA’s “haunted house.”[23]

SKULL & BONES’ NEW JERUSLAEM
Lou Engle's inspiration for The Call, D.C. came from a prophetic dream which is described on the Generals of Intercession website.
“In 1996, God gave Engle a prophetic dream that spawned the movement now referred to as The Call. In the dream, Engle was to pass on a letter to a young boy named Joel. Engle awakened with the thought that he had lost the letter that Joel was supposed to receive. ‘At that point, the Holy Spirit spoke to me, ‘Don't drop Joel's letter!'’ recalls Lou. ‘I interpreted this to mean we shouldn't drop God's call, articulated in the second chapter of Joel, to pray and fast. . .’”[24]
Engle must support this fantastical pretext for starting a youth revolution with something more substantial. A reference to Jonathan Edwards will add credibility to his prophetic dream:
"Two years ago, in Lake Isabela, CA, the Lord showed Engle that the coming youth revival was a fulfillment of a promise He had made to pioneer revivalist Jonathan Edwards. . .’I was preparing to preach on this subject for the very first time,’ recalls Engle, ‘when a kid came up to me and shared that he had just found out he was the great-great-great-great grandchild of Edwards. God is going to visit the youth of this nation because of his covenant with Edwards!”
"Interestingly, scholars have reported that Jonathan Edwards prophesied that a third great awakening would commence before the end of the year 2000."[25]
Few Christians who hear this story will realize that the "great-great-great-great grandchild of Edwards" would also be a descendant of Timothy Dwight, who was inducted into the Order of Skull & Bones in 1849, became president of Yale University in 1886 and served on the committee for the 1901 American Standard Revision (ASV). According to Antony Sutton, author of America's Secret Establishment: Introduction to the Order of Skull and Bones:
"In 1886 Timothy Dwight (The Order) had taken over from the last of Yale's clerical Presidents, Noah Porter. Never again was Yale to get too far from The Order." [26]
Rev. Pres Timothy Dwight was the grandson of Rev. Timothy Dwight (1752-1817) who was the grandson of the famous Rev. Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758), president of Union College. Both Timothy Dwights were presidents of Yale. The elder Timothy Dwight, who was born on May 14, 1752 in Northampton, Massachusetts, was a also personal friend of President George Washington, a high-level Freemason.
"Timothy Dwight was a man for all seasons: an ordained Congregational minister, grandson of Jonathan Edwards, personal friend of George Washington, and Army chaplain." [27]
It is true that Jonathan Edwards prophesied a great revival at the onset of the millennium. According to Paul Boyer, When Time Shall Be No More: Prophecy Belief in Modern American Culture, Jonathan Edwards and his grandson, Timothy Dwight, believed that America would be the seat of Christ's Millennial Kingdom and that this transition would occur in 2000 A.D. This vision corresponds to the Plan of British Freemasonry for the United States.
Christians, note well the Masonic exploitation of the religious masses through “patriot prophecy writers” who led them to believe they would “fulfill prophecy” by supporting “The Revolution.” It is an historical phenomenon that revolutionaries with secular agendas have, through psychological manipulation, succeeded in transforming the Church into an instrument of revolution.
"With the struggle for independence, patriot prophecy writers reenacted the familiar process of adapting their end-time scenarios to current events, and vied in identifying contemporary British leaders as Antichrist. . .By 1773 King George himself, like Charles I 150 years earlier was being portrayed as Antichrist . . .
"The independence movement also revived the belief of the Mathers and of Jonathan Edwards that America might be the seat of Christ's millennial kingdom. But what had been formulated in religious terms now took on a secular cast, as prophecy speculation -- already politicized during the French and Indian War -- oriented itself around the Revolutionary cause, laying the groundwork for. . .'civil millennialism.' In 'A Poem on the Rising Glory of America,' delivered to their Princeton graduating class in 1771, Philip Freneau and Hugh Henry Brackenridge looked to the day when the New Jerusalem would 'grace our happy earth, perhaps this land.' An independent American nation, declared Ebenezer Baldwin 1776, would be 'the principle seat of that glorious kingdom', which Christ shall erect upon the earth in the latter Days. Revolution and liberty, rather than revival, now became the high road to the blessed future foreseen by the biblical apocalypticus.
"With symbolic appropriateness, Jonathan Edwards' grandson, Timothy Dwight, most fully elaborated this secular vision of the Revolution's prophetic significance. Dwight's 1771 poem 'America' written when he was a nineteen-year-old Yale student contains the kernel of is civil millennialism. . . Five years later, speaking at Yale three weeks after the Declaration of Independence, the now twenty-four-year-old Dwight fully eschatologized the stirring events of the day. In America, history would reach its climax in the fulfillment of 'that remarkable Jewish tradition' of a thousand years of 'peace, purity and felicity.' Ushered in by Yale-trained lawyers, physicians and other professionals, the Star Spangled Millennium, he speculated (echoing Samuel Sewall whose ideas had intrigued his grandfather), would probably begin about the year 2000. In the soaring apocalyptic language of the prophet Isaiah, Dwight hailed the emerging nations: 'Arise, shine, for thy light has come.'" [28]
